Handoff is a browser extension that helps you carry conversation context from one AI chat session to a new one. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.

Data Collection

Handoff does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. The extension does not have any external servers, analytics, or tracking of any kind.

What the Extension Accesses

When you click the Handoff icon, the extension temporarily reads content from your current AI chat conversation on the active tab. Specifically:

• The last user message and assistant response in the conversation
• The AI-generated summary response (after the extension sends a summary prompt)

How Data Is Used

The conversation data read from the active tab is:

• Stored temporarily in local browser storage (chrome.storage.local) for the sole purpose of pasting it into a new chat tab
• Automatically deleted from local storage once it has been pasted into the new chat
• Never sent to any external server, API, or third party

User Settings

Your custom summary prompt (if configured) is stored in chrome.storage.sync so it persists across browser sessions. This data stays within your browser and Chrome profile and is never transmitted externally.

Host Permissions

The extension requests access to the following domains solely to interact with the AI chat interfaces:

• claude.ai
• chatgpt.com
• gemini.google.com
• perplexity.ai

These permissions are required to read conversation content and inject text into the chat input. The extension does not access any other websites or data.

Third Parties

Handoff does not share any data with third parties. There are no ads, analytics, or external services integrated into the extension.
